Start Location & Time:

Start time: 9 am sharp… plan to be there by 8:45 a.m.
Parking: an the church or the community centre close by

Ride Parameters:

Stay together to Sixth Line and Lower Base. After that point the ride will continue as either one or two groups depending on skill level and desired distance/speed of the participants. We'll break for refreshments approximately the half-way point, and all rides end at the starting point.

Ride Description:

This ride is for camaraderie and skill development. It is perfect for a pleasant ride with fellow cycling enthusiasts or a "day before race-day" spin. If you are starting out with group road riding or racing, you will be challenged and supported. If you are an experienced racer or fast road rider, you can enjoy the social atmosphere while supporting the less experienced and building base mileage. On this ride nobody gets left behind. We will stay in one or two groups. Go off the front only after advising the ride leader. The back will be watched and supported. Dropping off is allowed but only after advising the ride leader. Participation is exclusive to Midweek members.

Distances:

At the start of the season about 70 km progressing to about 120+ km. Routes generally head west and north. Quiet roads, mostly flat in early rides, moderate hills and escarpment climbs in later, longer rides. You can turn back and be caught on the return if you so choose (while notifying the rider leader).

Ride Speed:

20–25 km/h average for first few rides, increasing to 25-27 km/h by June and ultimately 28-30 km/h by July.
